Antique Settee
This settee belonged to my grandfather, Edward Evanson, and probably belonged earlier to his family.  Edward was a banker in the early 1900's in Madelia, Minnesota.

My mother inherited the settee in 1960 and had it reupholstered at that time with a lovely muted dark raspberry/burgundy velvet to compliment the detailed woodwork.

This settee has more detailed woodwork than other settees that were in the family or that I've be able to find online in my search to try to find out more about this piece.  Click on the image to the right to see an enlarged view of the center piece.  There is also graceful woodworking on the front of the arms and along the front bottom of the seat.

Overall the settee just shows gentle wear considering it is over 100 years old.  There is some wear on the fabric at the top of the back where it has rubbed against walls over the years.

The settee measures 66" wide, 40" tall, and a maximum of 28" deep.  It is lovely, stately, and sturdy (especially for its age).  It has wooden wheels.  There are no markings on the bottom of the settee.
